Pump up the volume (Allan Moyle, 1990)

Saw this one ages ago and remembered it was pretty cool because it had some Sonic Youth and Bad Brains songs in it. But it’s not, it is actually pretty bad unless you can identify yourself as a middle class suburban good looking kid full of angst. As hipsters these days would say: this is too 90s.

But checking it on IMDB I just realized that:

1. I probably mistook Pump up the Volume for the Heathers. In that one Christian Slater plays pretty much the same type of character (again with his mandatory Jack Nicholson impersonation), but it also has Winona Ryder and Shannon Doherty and explosions!



2. Slater and Samantha Mathis actually starred together again few years later. Of course I’m talking about John Woo’s best Hollywood movie Broken Arrow (one of the rare ones where A-Bomb actually goes off!)
 

 So I’m putting these two on my to-do list (not very high though) for some Friday night viewing.
